The Beatles' Liverpool in the snow - photo special

It's the coldest winter the UK has seen in nearly 30 years - but it looks so pretty! Here are some great pictures of Beatle-places in the snow, thanks to Terry of the Fab Four Taxi Tours.

[Snowy church]

St Peter's Church, Woolton. It was in the church field that Paul McCartney was introduced to John Lennon by their friend Ivan Vaughan on 6th July 1957. John's band, the Quarrymen, had just played at the Church Fete.

[Snowy church hall]

St Peter's Church hall. John and Paul were introduced in the field at the church fete but it was later in the day in the Church Hall where Paul showed John how to play 20 Flight Rock.

[Snowy Eleanor]

Paul claims that the name Eleanor Rigby was made up—Rigby from the name of a shop and Eleanor from actress Eleanor Bron (who was in the movie Help!)—but this gravestone is in the grounds of St Peter's Church, where he would have played as a youngster. Also in the grounds of St Peter's is the grave of George Toogood Smith, the husband of John's Aunt Mimi.

[Snowy George's]

12 Arnold Grove—where George Harrison was born and lived for nearly seven years.

[Snowy Mendips]

251 Menlove Avenue—Mendips—is where John Lennon lived with his Aunt Mimi from the age of five until 1963. It is now owned by the National Trust (bought and donated by Yoko Ono) and marked by a Blue Plaque.

[Snowy Ringo's]

10, Admiral Grove—where Ringo grew up.

[Snowy Strawberries]

'I have really enjoyed reading your fan club magazines and I am proud to wear the fan club pin' - Terje Solbakken, Norway.
'I spent a wonderful year reading your magazine, which I find very interesting and I hope you'll carry on the good job.' - Dimitris Tacticos, Greece.

'Thanks for the badge and membership card. I wear the badge on my school uniform blazer, which is breaking the school dress code slightly as badges aren't allowed. I don't think the teachers mind much though as it's a band they like as well!' - Roisin Mulligan, age 15.
